Benjamin Disraeli said, "Youth is a blunder ... Middle age a struggle ... Old age a regret ..."
I have no idea who Benjamin Disraeli is, or was, but his beliefs are not a one-size-fits-all.
Youth had its blunders alright, but it had glorious moments too.
The struggles of middle age were real and constant and downright depressing, but great happiness was sprinkled through the gloom.
Old age is filled with regret ... Yes, but so was all of middle age and a generous portion of youth.
Regret dogs our footsteps all through life.
When we're young we're not smart enough to recognize regret when it fills our souls. And when we're middle age we simply don't have time to grieve about our mistakes.
Old age brings a stillness into our lives ....
