The sound of music is drifting through my head today ... Julie Andrews is singing, "These are a few of my favorite things."
I'm helping with the lyrics.
Raindrops on roses and cream colored ponies,
Doorbells and sleigh bells and warm woolen mittens,
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes,
These are a few of my favorite things ...
Uh oh. Right in the middle of our duet, my poorly disciplined mind leaves Julie on stage alone and turns 180 degrees to focus on a Kentucky jail cell containing one Kim Davis, the grandstanding-for-all-she's-worth, apostolic pentecost public servant earning 80,000 hard-working tax payer dollars a year, and believing she has the right to pick and choose which laws she will follow and which she will not ... which services she will provide and which she - in good conscience - cannot.
Kim Davis has been married four times to three different men. The first three marriages ended in divorce.
She is the mother of twins who were born five months after her divorce from her first husband. her third husband is the biological father of the twins who were adopted by her second husband, Joe, who is also her fourth and current husband.
Whew!
And I thought MY past was a screwed up unholy mess!
C'mon, Julie! Let's sing!
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
Beautiful rainbows and warm woolen mittens,
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
and then I don't feel so bad.
