Holding on to each other ...

The past lies far behind us now, and all those wasted years before we found each other aren't worth a second glance.

Tomorrow waits somewhere up ahead  ... hidden from view behind its veil of uncertainty.

Phillip sees my fear ... this brave good man who is usually so quiet ... and his words come fast and easy as he rises above his own pain and attempts to ease my troubled mind.

He tells me how lucky we've been to have thirteen  beautiful years together ... the happiest time of his life ... and of mine.

He tells me he loves me more than he ever knew it was possible to love.

My tears soak the front of his hospital gown as I listen to the beat of his heart keeping time with the sound of his words ... "We're okay, Jonelle.  We're better than okay.  You hear me?  We passed okay miles back.  No matter what happens now, we'll always be okay."

Dear sweet precious man ...

I love him so.
