I remember reading the following quote several years ago and thinking Anais Nin was an incredibly wise woman and I should try hard to follow her teachings:
"My mission, should I choose
to accept it,is to find peace with
exactly who and what I am.
To take pride in my thoughts, my
appearance, my talents, my flaws
and to stop this incessant worrying
that I can't be loved as I am."
Anais Nin
I
I ran across her words again today and realized I've fallen a bit short in following her example. I'm very close to being at peace with who and what I am. My thoughts are well within the bounds of decency. My appearance is fine for an eighty-year-old great-grandmother, and my talents serve as a soothing balm to a once troubled soul.
But ... take pride in my flaws? No.
I don't understand what she means by that one ...
