Same Subject - Second Thoughts ...

One of my favorite readers has seriously challenged my view of shallow minds, so I must now climb down off my soap box and re-think my position ...

Could it be that deep thinking people are sometimes shallow?  Yes, of course, but the great depths of feeling inside their souls never ceases to exist.

Are shallow people capable of deep feelings?  I don't think so.

Does anyone exist half-way between those two extremes?   Maybe, but I've never met them.

Deep people instinctively move themselves up to a less sensitive and more practical level to meet the demands of daily life ... getting an education, making a home, earning a living and raising a family ... but their depth of feeling - stored safely on a back shelf - is carried with them always.

Shallow people cannot reach down to deeper feelings because deep feelings do not exist.

Shallow people want to look good and have fun.   That's it.   That's all.   They are busy active people who will do all it takes to attain these two goals ... look good and have fun.

Deep people have insights into issues shallow people fail to grasp. Deep People often have thoughts that are contrary to popular opinion.  They venture past the established ideas of society and have novel ideas of their own.

Shallow people are concerned only with what is obvious.  Their lives are made up of hollow superficial distractions.
