Proud Humility ...

It's my favorite oxymoron ...

Proud Humility.

We all know people who are filled with pride about how humble they are.   Poor ignorant souls ... I laugh out loud every time they open their mouths.

Self-righteous people are generous with their teachings, and if only we'd pay close attention and follow their example, we could be almost as good as they are.   At the risk of damaging their inflated egos, I must say I have no desire to be like them.

I greatly admire those who do good without a need to call attention to themselves ...  Their self-esteem is secure.  They don't have to prove anything to anybody.

My world is ordinary although it isn't ordinary at all, and it is peaceful although the peacefulness came at a high price.  I find joy in each new day.  I often laugh and seldom cry.   Life is good.

I pity people who cannot cope with reality ... people who only want to watch clowns, hear music, laugh and be happy.  That's happy?  Really?  I think a person who tries to make life one never-ending party is as foolish as a person who avoids meat and vegetables and wants only dessert.

Life is real.  It's hard work, heavy responsibility and heartbreak.  It's also satisfaction in seeing a job well done, feeling good about yourself and the joy of loving and being loved.

Life is good.   Did I already say that?  Well, it bears repeating.

Life is good.
