Looking down on the Eagle's Nest

Tony's class traveled by bus from Heidelberg, Germany to a small town called Berchtesgaden, located within the German Bavarian Alps. The area was famous for its mountains. Lake Konigsee is close by. Students stayed in dormitories. Teachers held classes during morning hours. Afternoons were spent at the Alpine Ski Resort.
Before leaving the area, children were transported by bus up a steep mountain to view Adolph Hitler's famous Eagle's Nest. From the bus stop, a long tunnel led the children sideways through the mountain to a polished brass elevator which then zipped them 406 feet straight up through the heart of Kehlstein mountain, and there is was ... Eagle's Nest ... the famous retreat that had been given to an evil man on his 50th birthday.
